THE BUTTERFLY GHOST

Sixteen-year-old science geek Emma has had a secret crush on Alex for years, but he’s dating her popular sister’s best friend and she’s never had a chance with him. Until the day after he’s killed in a car accident when, in a Schrödinger’s cat move, he shows up alive at school.

Alex corners Emma when she’s alone. Hungry and covered in bruises from the accident, he swears that he’s not dead or a ghost and that only Emma can see and hear him. Emma’s skeptical at first, but if there’s some kind of scientific explanation, she’s hooked. Together, they Google his condition and discover this happened to someone else, a secret organization’s fatal experiment.

With no idea how long Alex can survive this way, Emma’s determined to find answers fast. But now someone’s stalking her. She’d bet her 4.0 in physics that he’s with the secret organization, so she plots to preemptively strike, to locate and break into the organization’s headquarters with the help of a few friends. She’s risking herself and her friends, but if she doesn’t, Alex will become the experiment’s next casualty. Which is a problem. Because she’s pretty sure she’s in love with him.
