Sixteen-year-old science geek Emma has had a secret crush on Alex for years, but he’s dating her popular sister’s best friend and she’s never had a chance with him. Until the day after he’s killed in a car accident when, in a Schrödinger’s cat move, he shows up alive at school.
Alex corners Emma when she’s alone. Hungry and covered in bruises from the accident, he swears that he’s not dead or a ghost and that only Emma can see and hear him.
